Domaine Alain Michelot
Overview
Nuits-St-Georges domaine now run by Elodie Michelot. Suffered significant mildew damage in 2024 when neighboring biodynamic growers’ vines lost to mildew spread into Michelot’s parcels despite their best efforts.
Appellations
Key Wines
- Nuits-St-Georges premier crus (Vaucrains, Chaliots, Perrières, Porêts, Cailles)
- Village Nuits-St-Georges
Style Notes
The Michelot style is traditional and terroir-focused. Elodie Michelot manages the estate with precision. The premier crus are classic Nuits — dark-fruited, structured, requiring patience.
2023 Vintage Notes (VFTC #115)
Visited January 2025. Elodie Michelot is a big fan of the vintage; wines evolved very well in cask. She terms 2022 “a great vintage” but feels 2023s will drink a bit sooner. Very black fruity — Elodie noted (at same moment as Gilman thinking it) “the aromatics remind me a bit of the 1993s.” Alcohol 13.5–14%. Harvest started September 8th; all premier crus and Clos Vougeot picked before the September 12th deluge. Only the Morey “Charrieres” and villages/Bourgogne picked afterward (“the vineyard was just pure mud”). All wines still in cask at visit. Big news: all previously split premier cru/villages vineyards in Nuits now granted full premier cru status from 2024 — Elodie’s Champs Perdrix parcels will be blended together from 2025.
2023 Scores:

- Nuits “Chaignots”: 94 pts (2035–2085) — “Elodie’s favorite premier cru”; “woefully under-respected”; beautiful, sappy
