Domaine Charles Audoin

Overview

Domaine Charles Audoin is the benchmark producer of Marsannay, the northernmost appellation of the Côte de Nuits. The estate specializes in the full range of Marsannay styles (red, white, and the appellation’s famous rosé), as well as Fixin and Gevrey-Chambertin. Charles Audoin was a pioneering advocate for Marsannay’s recognition; the domaine is now run by his children.

Appellations

My Cellar

62 total bottles (30 recent).

  • Marsannay: 58 btls (16 pending), 2017–2023
  • Fixin: 3 btls, 2020–2022
  • Bourgogne Aligoté: 1 btl, 2020

Style Notes

Marsannay produces leaner, more structured Pinot Noir than the Côte proper — bright acidity, firm tannins, red cherry and earth. Audoin’s wines show exceptional terroir definition for the appellation. The premier crus, especially Clos du Roy and Longeroies, can rival Gevrey villages in weight.

Key Wines

  • Marsannay “Clos du Roy” (1er cru) — one of Marsannay’s most structured premier crus
  • Marsannay “Les Longeroies” (1er cru)
  • Marsannay “Champs-Salomon” (1er cru)
  • Marsannay “Les Favières” (1er cru)
  • Marsannay Rosé — Marsannay produces the finest rosé in the Côte d’Or
  • Village Marsannay (red, white), Fixin, Gevrey-Chambertin

2023 Vintage Notes

Visited January 2025. Full range produced in the generous 2023 vintage. All four premier crus, rosé, and red and white village wines produced. The 2023s showed excellent depth across the range.
