Domaine Dureuil-Janthial

Overview

Domaine Vincent Dureuil-Janthial is the benchmark estate of Rully and arguably the finest domaine in the Côte Chalonnaise. Vincent Dureuil took over from his father Raymond in 1994 and has elevated Rully to a level that competes with the best of the Côte de Beaune. The domaine also holds premier cru parcels in Nuits-St-Georges (Clos des Argillières) and village Mercurey, demonstrating range across both colors and multiple appellations.

The whites — particularly the Rully 1er Cru Le Meix Cadot and its Vieilles Vignes cuvée — are the flagship wines, showing a precision and mineral depth that rivals Puligny at a fraction of the price. The reds from Rully and Mercurey offer exceptional value, while the Nuits-St-Georges Clos des Argillières is a serious premier cru.

Appellations

  • Rully — village and 1er Cru (Le Meix Cadot, Les Margotés, Chapitre, Maizières, Chêne)

Style Notes

Dureuil-Janthial whites are mineral-driven, precise, and age-worthy — showing citrus, wet stone, and saline notes in youth that develop honeyed complexity with time. The Le Meix Cadot Vieilles Vignes routinely scores alongside Puligny and Meursault premier crus at half the price. The reds are supple, perfumed, and surprisingly structured for Rully — the Clos des Argillières in particular shows a depth that justifies its Côte de Nuits pedigree.
