Domaine Patrick Piuze

Overview

Canadian-born Patrick Piuze produces terroir-focused Chablis from purchased grapes and must, across a wide range of lieux-dits and premier/grand crus. Notable for showcasing micro-terroir differences across the appellation.

Appellations

Key Wines

  • Wide range of Chablis lieux-dits bottlings (Chablis terroir showcase)
  • Premier crus: Montée de Tonnerre, Vaillons, and others
  • Grand crus when available

Style Notes

Piuze’s approach is one of terroir-focused transparency — his wide range of single-parcel wines is deliberately designed to show how different soils and expositions express differently within the Chablis appellation. The wines are mineral-driven and precise, more focused on site signature than winemaker signature.

2023 Vintage Notes (VFTC #115)

Visited January 20, 2025. Harvest September 11–25. Everything already bottled. Tasted in the breakroom (cellars too cold). Patrick extracted “just a touch more in this vintage” for more personality, giving a signature citrus peel note on many finishes. Not the raciest wines in Chablis this year, but none soft — “more forward personalities out of the blocks.” Huge lineup of villages bottlings, all excellent.
