2022 Vintage Notes (VFTC #114)

Outstanding showing across Marsannay, Fixin, and Gevrey-Chambertin. All wines use indigenous yeasts; old vines (50+ years) across most parcels. Gilman calls these “stunning values.”

Marsannay:

  • “les Boivins”: 90+ pts (2030–2060) — “beautifully refined and transparent; lovely balance; will put on weight with bottle age”
  • “les Champsalomon”: 92 pts (2030–2060) — old vines 50+ years; “tightly-knit; going to be a terrific bottle; not quite as forward as les Grasses Têtes”
  • “le Clos de Jeu”: 92 pts (2028–2055+) — “pure and complex on both nose and palate; so good!”
  • “en Combereau”: 91+ pts (2030–2055+) — vines 50+ years; “excellently transparent down to its soil”
  • “les Grasses Têtes”: 91 pts (2025–2050) — “soil-driven; outstanding grip; fine juice”

Fixin:

  • “les Champstions”: 92 pts (2033–2065+) — vines 30–40 years; 25% new oak; “outstanding bottle of young and very elegant Fixin”
  • “les Crais de Chêne”: 91+ pts (2033–2065+) — vines 40+ years; 30% new oak; “another excellent Fixin in the making”

Gevrey-Chambertin:

  • “les Evocelles”: 91+ pts (2035–2075) — “outstanding example; I love its backend lift and energy”
