Domaine Pierre-Marie Chermette

Overview

Domaine Pierre-Marie Chermette (now run by Jean-Etienne Chermette) is a highly regarded Beaujolais estate producing wines from Beaujolais AC level up through the Crus of Saint-Amour, Fleurie, and Moulin-à-Vent. The domaine is best known for the “Coeur de Vendanges” bottling — a Beaujolais AC made from centenarian vines — which Gilman awarded 94 points in the 2022 vintage. They also produce a range of single vineyard Fleurie and Saint-Amour cuvées, as well as a Rosé Beaujolais “Griottes” and a Beaujolais “Griottes” rouge. John Gilman notes the domaine is featured in a forthcoming dedicated VFTC article on the family’s Cru Beaujolais.

Style Notes

Chermette makes wines across a wide range of quality and style. The centenarian vine “Coeur de Vendanges” is the estate’s grand cru equivalent — extraordinary depth, purity, and longevity from extremely old Gamay vines. The Fleurie and Saint-Amour cuvées are structured for their appellations and reward cellaring. A forthcoming VFTC article on the Chermette family’s Cru Beaujolais lineup is promised (see Coming Attractions, VFTC #116).
