Louis Sozet
Overview
Louis Sozet was a traditional Cornas producer who sadly died in 2019 at the age of 83. His great-grandfather lived in Cornas, but it took the family time to achieve vineyard ownership. Louis started in 1958 after the sudden death of his father Jean. The Cornas is traditional, true country wine from another era, helped by fruit from some 1919 Syrah. Part of the vineyard is let out to, among others, Stephane Robert of Domaine du Tunnel. The harvest has been recently sold to merchants such as Chapoutier. In 2014, 400 bottles were produced.

- Cornas — traditional, true Cornas from another era; founded in part on 1919 Syrah
Style Notes
Country wine from another era. The traditional winemaking and fruit from century-old Syrah give a filling, authentic character. Production was tiny in the final years (400 bottles in 2014). Louis’ brother Bernard, who lives in Lyon, has been giving a helping hand. The estate is essentially in legacy mode.
