Auxey-Duresses
Overview
Auxey-Duresses is a small, underrated appellation tucked into a valley behind Meursault. It produces both red and white wines; the whites can be excellent value compared to Meursault (with which they share geological similarities). The reds tend toward rusticity and earthiness. Rarely spoken of in the same breath as the famous Côte de Beaune villages, but good producers here offer real quality at accessible prices.

Style Notes
Whites: lean, crisp Chardonnay with mineral edge; good value. Reds: earthy, red-fruited, a bit rough in youth but develop well with a few years of aging.
