Fixin

Overview

Fixin is the first significant village of the Côte de Nuits heading south from Dijon, just north of Gevrey-Chambertin. It produces structured, earthy Pinot Noir with more muscle than finesse — often compared to Gevrey in weight but at a fraction of the price. Six premier crus, led by Clos de la Perrière, Clos du Chapitre, and Les Arvelets.

Key Producers

Domaine Berthaut-Gerbet — the dominant estate; also has holdings in Vosne-Romanée

My Cellar

132 bottles — largest single-appellation Burgundy holding after Volnay

Domaine Berthaut-Gerbet — 132 btls (deep vertical)

Style Notes

Fixin sits on the same limestone band as Gevrey but tends toward a more rustic, tannic expression. The best premier crus (Clos de la Perrière especially) can rival Gevrey villages in quality at significantly lower prices. Wines need 5–10 years to open up and reward patience.
